Outrageous, controversial and hilarious. The Tozzer series never let offending people get in the way of laughs and the 2nd outing of the teenage illusionist's adventures goes even further with the formula. The latest issue (#3) continues the trend as the series reaches its half way point and Tozzer encounters a maniacal sniper on an indiscriminate killing spree.

Tozzer comics are generally stuffed full of parody and this issue is no exception seeing send ups of Tomb Raider, Michael Moore, Phonebox, Star Wars, Pulp Fiction, The Matrix Revolutions, Michael Jackson, Harry Potter, Triple X, Eminem, Tony Hawk and Catch me if you can, among others. It’s almost as if the guys behind the comic where going for some kind of award for packing a comic with parodies. I cannot think of anything that even comes close to the sheer volume of targets the Tozzer boys have in the sights of their comedy gun. Nothing is safe from being ridiculed.

...and this is helped by the accessible, cartoonish style of caricature art which Peter Lumby practices. It works exceptionally well to identify the unwitting victims of their comedic condescension and fits the comic exactly.

The writing is great too, funny one liners, sarcasm, irreverential parody, gutter humour, unbridled mockery of figures that take themselves too seriously and expect all others to do the same. Brilliant.

Sure, the humour may not be sophisticated and high brow, but who said it had to be?

Tozzer 2 is still one of the finest independent comics around. What are you waiting for?
