This is the issue where it all comes together. Dracula has been captured. The Nephilim have the Blue and proceed to take over Dallas. C’mon, what more do you want?

There is a very cool scene in this issue between Ronnie Van Helsing and Dracula. Silence of the Lambs only wish they had come up with something as cool as this. Dracula is being held in a specially made glass capsule that is suspended in water. Trust me, you have to see it. Why water? Because vampires are allergic to running water. All Ronnie has to do is pull a lever and water rushes in and destroys Dracula.

However, Dracula still has a few tricks left up his sleeves, which are made of blood. You see, he can control blood and make it do whatever he wishes. When Ronnie gets too close to the capsule, Dracula makes the blood in her head start to boil. Even though he is literally trapped and facing death, he is still defiant. Ronnie quickly reestablishes control and learns that the Blue brings life from death. Dracula seriously messes with Ronnie’s head as we learn that they have some history together. Meanwhile, the Nephilim set about creating a monstrous army out of the citizens of Dallas.

Alex Van Helsing, Ronnie’s brother, has a strange premonition that causes him to call his sister. This phone call causes Ronnie to go about freeing Dracula. His escape from his capsule is very, very cool. It is a squence that you have to see – Belk’s art is really good and it shows in this sequence. Why does Ronnie let the king of the vampires go? Well, we’ll have to wait until the next issue.

Once again, this issue packs in a lot of action. The pieces really start to come together. I’ve really enjoyed SOD so far and each issue always leaves me wanting more – especially when it seems that they always end in a cliffhanger. Sign me up for another issue – I don’t want the blood in my brain to boil!
