Comic book Wednesday just keeps getting worse and worse. Case in point: JLA #83. The infamous Justice League of America reduced to an unneeded "stream of subconsciousness."

You won't find a very detailed review of this book, because 1)there isn't anything worth knowing, 2)it's a buildup of so many clichés and recent events, there's nothing you don't already know, and 3)I'd be embarrassed if I entertained it as such!

I mean, this issue is the War in Iraq with the names changed, Joe Kelly's pants down, and the Justice League involved. Everything down to the "weapons of mass destruction", protestors, genocide, weapons violations, the UN's right but America's wrong, and people questioning if it’s the right thing to do or not is here---right in the pages of Earth's favorite heroes. And not only that, there's those "terror" scam artists selling olive oil (much like gas masks) to bathe themselves in should napalm strike, and Lois and Clark actually buy some! How thoughtful of Mr. Kelly! A public service announcement from Green Lantern: if there's a nuclear strike, just the run the other way!

Here's Superman's view of the Quracci situation if you're interested: "We exist…because those with the power to stop injustice simply must. With clarity, compassion, and truth as their most powerful weapons. We can show them a better way, I know we can. Armed conflict may be an option, and I will support it…if the truth is clear, and the cause is just. But I will know the truth, and I will not feel ashamed or be called un-American for demanding it."

I guess we'll add Superman to the list of unpatriotic Americans and anti-Bush citizens, huh? Maybe Clark Kent is French after all (now there's a miniseries for Mark Millar! Superman: Chirac's Son!)

Supes confronts President Bus…err…Luthor on why assassinating Saddam Hus---or whoever they named the Quracci (at least DON'T make it sound like, "Iraqi") President is wrong, and that's pretty much the only thing new in the issue. You'd think Chris Cross would spice things up, but Wonder Woman is drawn with mannish proportions, I spotted some Humberto Ramos-like eyes, and the faces and details, hell…you know what, the art is just really inconsistent. Don't expect anything of Cross' Captain Marvel caliber.

I guess he got pissed he's being booted off the book soon. Mr. Kelly has officially taken a creative bowel moment on the comic book industry, and whether you were for the Iraqi war, didn't care, or against, NO ONE should pick up this ugly turkey of a comic book.

Memo to the Justice League: Freedom Fries will no longer be served in the mess hall. Thank you.
