Summary: An examination of life (?) as a ghost in the form of a personal account.
Presentation: Full colour and glossy in traditional comics format size on good quality and nice smelling paper, however, the printing quality leaves a lot to be desired.

My Comments: This comic short is the prize for the winner of a writing competition run by Warpton comics. Apparently, the writers had to write some text and story that best fitted the images (presumably the images used in the comic). The prize upon winning was that their comic would be published by Warpton Comics and this is it.
I’ve gotta say that I do think the writing in really good and there is a certain poignancy to it. It focuses on the thoughts and emotions of a pair of ghosts as they go through a day, and is a fascinating story on what ghosts get up to and what they are thinking.
The comic goes a long way beyond the standard treatment of the subject to provide a deep and, if not insightful, at least interesting take on the subject matter.
The story and writing fit perfectly the competition images, both in content and style. The imagery used in the comic create an almost ethereal feel to the look of the piece and haunted look to the streets from which these images are taken. This obviously is ideally suited to the writing and both merge seamlessly.
The artwork itself is some of the most unusual and interesting that I have ever seen in a comic book. It looks as if it is based on photography, and then the photos have been processed by a computer. I am not totally sure that this isn’t what has been done here, then again, it could just be really really good drawing.
It doesn’t matter. It looks fucking great.
This comic may be a competition winner but it’s much better than most of that crap they call comics these days. I sincerely hope that the writer is going to do more and longer comics.
