The Lexian Chronicles – Full Circle

By Glenn Carter
Print This Item

Publisher: AP Comics

Writer: Chris Bunting (adapted from The Lexian Chronicles by Harry Gallan)

Artists: Inaki Miranda and Eva de la Cruz

Relevant Websites: http://www.apcomics.com/ - publisher’s website.

Issues read: 1 and 2

Summary: The comic follows the life of Reena and her tribe (The Phoenix Tribe). Reena is a teenager with an interest in weapon training, art and writing, however she finds it very hard to interact socially with the other teenagers in the tribe and subsequently is picked on. However, it is very clear that she will grow to become someone which will determine the fate of the Phoenix Tribe…

Presentation: Friendly, accessible and easy to follow full colour artwork in a comic format with top quality glossy paper.

Where to buy it: AP Comics are beginning to creep into comics retailers and you should be able to ask your retailer to order it for you. Failing that you can get this comic direct from the publisher at the above website.

My Comments: Wow! AP Comics have really come of age. Much of their recent output is just streets ahead of the stuff they were producing a year ago. The artwork and presentation were always beautifully well presented but now they have some really good quality writing to go with it. Some the earlier AP Comics number were quite hard to follow and not the best written, however, this and several other newer AP Comics really demonstrate just how far they have come. The Lexian Chronicles really is a joy to read and I found it immensely involving and compulsive.

Everything is so right. I haven’t read the original work upon which this comic is based but if it is a faithful adaptation then it must be also be really good. The writing is coherent, logical and natural and this makes the comic all the more believable. Cliches, which could easily have crept into a work of this nature are avoided and the whole thing feels really fresh and worthwhile.

In addition, the artwork is lush and colourful and enhances the work. It is consistent, clear and real eye candy. Sometimes you just get artwork that you just enjoy looking at and this is one of those times.

I fully intend to go to my local comics retailer and demand that they order me this excellent comic – I really want to read more and I cannot recommend this comic highly enough.
