Let’s Have Cake!

From humble roots, a group of Phoenix artists have turned their online doodling into true works of art. “Cake” is a 176 page collection of original illustrated stories. A comic anthology, if you will.

No mere comic book, the seeds for “Cake” sprouted two years ago with an online blog for local artists. The blog, artjumble.blogspot.com, quickly turned into an international phenomenon, attracting interest from artists all over the world.

Now 10 Phoenix-based members of this group have published their first book of original illustrations, in a multitude of styles. Often sweet and sometimes bizarre, the 11 stories include a cephalopod who falls in love with a boat, a little girl who befriends a cloud, a tale of self-discovery in Limbo’s waiting room, and a chubby little dog’s first day at the park.

The book is very colorful and visual, and would make a wonderful feature for a local newscast. The artists will make themselves available for interviews and live in-studio appearances.
