Friends And Family Bid Farewell To Julie Schwartz

Comics veteran Julie Schwartz was farewelled today in a service at the I.W. Morris Funeral Home in Hempstead, NY. Schwartz is being laid to rest in Mount Hebron Cemetery in New York City.

Longtime colleagues, who spanned Julie's 60 years with DC, were present at the funeral, including a number of current DC staffers along with artists Murphy Anderson and Joe Giella and former DC Production VP Jack Adler.

Also among those present: Paul Levitz, Terri Cunningham, Karen Berger, Richard Bruning, Bob Greenberger, Martin Pasko, Michael Uslan, Peter David, Bob Wayne, Andy Helfer, and Mike Carlin.

DC Comics President and Publisher, Paul Levitz, said DC would hold a memorial service sometime in March.

Julie is survived by a large extended family, including a son-in-law, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren who attended the service. He leaves behind a huge lgeacy of heroic stories, vibrant characters, and many fans. He will be missed.
