Santa , Wieringo, and Westie-- Oh my!

Sky-Dog Comics creates top-selling custom comic for Westfield Shoppingtowns!

There's less than a week left until Christmas, and if you live near one of the 61 Westfield Shoppingtown Malls across the country, there's not much time to pick up the #1 selling comic in America---no, not "JLA/Avengers" or "Batman," but "Westie's Holiday Adventures"?

Handed out by Santa at Westfield Malls across the country, "Westie's Holiday Adventures" features a cover by Mike Wieringo (Fantastic Four, Tellos), and interior story and art by John Gallagher (Buzzboy, More Fund Comics) and Rich Faber (Green Lantern, Titans). The digest-sized comic was created by Gallagher's own Sky-Dog Comics (www.skydogcomics.com) specifically for Westfield, and is sponsored by Minute Maid Orange Juice.

"To my knowledge, this is the top selling comic in America this month," stated Gallagher, who is best known for self-publishing his own Buzzboy, as well as publishing the recent CBLDF benefit anthology, "More Fund Comics." "The best part of working on this project is that so many kids will receive and see the magic of a comic book for the first time. We were doubly proud to have Mike Wieringo join in the fun." This is certainly not Mike Wieringo's first super-selling comic, having been the artist for the now famous 9-cent edition of Fantastic Four #60, which also sold in the hundreds of thousands.

Two years ago, Gallagher combined his years in graphic design and advertising with his work in comics, and started Sky-Dog Custom Comics, creating comics for a variety of companies, ranging from a biotech company, to Westfield, and most recently for a Hollywood production company raising funding. At the same time, Gallagher has been working to create a line of entertaining, all-ages comics and trades, for comics shops and book stores. "I want to show the mainstream world the power of comics as a tool for communicating ideas," added Gallagher, "and I want to reinforce the validity to the comics market that all-ages comics should not be ignored as a vital part of keeping comics alive."

To see a preview of "Westie's Holiday Adventures", as well as Sky-Dog's other comics offerings (including the upcoming "Buzzboy: Monsters, Dreams, & Milkshakes" TPB), visit www.skydogcomics.com.
