WLG #214: Running Red!
Sorry about there not being a column last week; the snow and ice have been hitting harder than usual here in Michigan. My fiancée is a teacher, and here it is February already and she has not worked a full week since Christmas because of all of the snow days.
Yeah, CHRISTMAS!
So, like I said, getting home ALIVE last week was a chore in and of itself. It sucked, it really did.
And now this week is a small week for me. I feel like you readers are getting short-changed.
Which doesn't make this part any better: I will not be writing a column next week as my day job is sending me to Pittsburgh on business (live in Pittsburgh? Where are some cool places to go?). I am working to get a fill-in writer for next week so you're not left hanging, but at the very least the column won't be written by me. I just won't have the time.
There's also a possibility that I won't be writing the column after that either; I MIGHT be in Portland, Oregon (again, on business), but that part is still up in the air.
I sound important and successful, what with these business trips, but really I'm just a peon like most everyone else; I'm just a geek that writes about comics.
Now this:
HULK #2 $2.99 (Jeph Loeb / Ed McGuiness)A red Hulk?
OK, I have to admit, I am intrigued.
Mind you, I've never been the biggest fan of the Hulk, but there have been times that I collected the book or enjoyed his appearances. A couple of my favorite tales were when Spider-Man got the Captain Universe powers and punched the Hulk so hard that he was launched into space; another was during the “Grey Hulk/Joe Fixit” period when the Hulk ended up in Madripoor, lost his clothes, and Logan gave him some shredded purple pants to wear; there was another Joe Fixit story that featured the Punisher; lastly, there was a time when all of the Hulks and Banner were merged into one thing, and we had a smart, in control, strong, green Hulk.
But red?
Is it even the Hulk that we know?
Like I said, I am intrigued, enough to check this out.
RUNAWAYS #29 $2.99 (Joss Whedon / Michael Ryan)Where has this book been? Have I missed an issue? Why am I such a terrible fan.
Either this book is way late, or more likely, the last issue or two was lost somewhere in my pile of comics and I just got left behind somehow.
How did I let this happen?
The Runaways has been consistently been on of my favorite comics of all time, and I am ashamed that I have lost track of where this book is going. Really, I suck. I really do.
But no more! I catch up here and now.
Seriously, this book is good. I can't wait to jump back into it!
Again, it was kind of a light week for me; sorry for getting snowed in last week!
Was there anything that looked good to you this week? Your thoughts on anything else to do with comics? Share them! Just check out theWhat Looks Good message boards (see link below) and spread the love, my friend, spread the love.
Until then,
