WLG #192: Two To Tango!
OK, I know that I've been out for a few weeks what with work and illnesses, but have I really missed so much that I could find only TWO books to get excited about this week?
Maybe so.
Well, this week there's no work overload to stop me or a cold to slow me down; I sat down to write my first REAL column in weeks but when I looked over this week's releases on two things really caught my eye, so instead of babbling incoherently for sentence after sentence I'm just going to jump right into it.
First, of course, is this:
BATMAN #664 $2.99 (Grant Morrison / Andy Kubert)Batman VERSUS the Gotham City Police? True, Jim Gordon has been gone for a long time now but Batman working with the Gotham police department is just something that has been for so long. Well, things got really touchy during “Crisis...” and other events.
Speaking of which, personally I would LOVE it if I got the chance to see some of the members of the Gotham Major Crimes Unit. I can hope, but I'm not holding my breath.
Morrison on Batman is a lot of fun, sure enough, I just wish the issues came out in a touch more timely fashion.
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #107 $2.99 (Brian Michael Bendis / Mark Bagley)I'm going to sound like a broken record if I go on an on heaping accolades on this book like I've been doing for over 100 issues now, and really, I can't come up with an original way to say it: this book is good, and maybe more importantly, it is a SOLID read issue after issue.
You might think after the whirlwind rush that was “The Clone Saga” that Peter Parker might get a SLIGHT respite, but nope, no such luck. Ultimate Dare Devil is back, so of course you know that the Kingpin will be stirring around yet again. That's a good thing because one of my favorite things about the Ultimate version of the Kingpin is how Peter Parker talks to him.
Good stuff; what more can I say?
Wow.
Small week.
Was there something that did it for you this week? If so, stop by the What Looks Good message boards (see link below) and spread the love, my friend.
Until then,
Peace!
